Oven Kraft by Convertech

G-Flute Technology

A corrugated board thin enough to bake in.

G-Flute is Convertech’s ultra-thin corrugated board, 0.8 mm overall. It holds its shape as a baking form, goes from freezer to oven, and runs through automated lines like rigid packaging.

Why the flute matters

Stiffness from geometry, not from weight.

Corrugated board gets its strength from shape. A fluted medium bonded between two flat liners works like a row of small beams, so the sheet resists bending far better than the same paper laid flat.

Standard flutes were developed for shipping cases, where cushioning matters most. A baking form needs something else: a smooth contact surface, clean fold lines, precise dimensions and walls that stay upright under batter and dough.

A finer flute gives more support points per centimetre, a flatter surface and sharper folds. G-Flute takes that principle down to 0.8 mm, which is how a fiber tray can do the job of a rigid baking form with a fraction of the material.

Board build

Five layers, each with one job.

The barrier grade shown below is the build used for wet batters, fats and steam. Kraft, white and black finishes use the same structural core.

Thermal range

One tray from blast freezer to oven.

The same format can be filled, frozen, stored, baked and reheated without changing packaging. The tray the product was baked in becomes the tray it is sold in.

Service temperature scale of G-Flute trays from −28 °C to +220 °C

01

Fill

Rigid walls hold their shape under batter and dough on depositors and automatic filling lines.

02

Bake

Rated to +220 °C. The barrier side resists grease and steam, and the tray leaves the oven as a finished pack.

03

Chill and freeze

Rated down to −28 °C for frozen storage and distribution.

04

Reheat and serve

Oven and microwave reheating in the original tray, from retail shelf to table.

From reel to tray

Made on our own converting lines.

Oven Kraft trays are produced by Convertech, which imports, slits, rewinds and converts industrial paper. Running paper supply and conversion under one roof keeps a board this thin consistent from batch to batch.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first.

Short answers to the questions we hear most often. For anything else, our packaging engineers reply personally.

G-Flute is an ultra-thin corrugated board developed by Convertech for ovenable food packaging. It is 0.8 mm thick overall and combines a fine corrugated medium, kraft liners and, on barrier grades, a functional film on the food-contact side.
Yes. Standard formats are rated for service temperatures up to +220 °C. Bake profile, product moisture and fill weight all affect performance, which is why every new application starts with a line trial.
Trays are rated down to −28 °C for frozen storage and can be used for microwave reheating. Metallized barrier finishes are not intended for microwave use.
Trays are made from food-contact materials and produced under ISO 22000 food safety management, with FDA-compliant materials. Ask for the compliance documents for your market together with your samples.
Yes. Custom dimensions, finishes and print are developed through our Custom formats programme, qualified on your line before volume production.
